The top 10 neighbors for WIRED Science span four distinct subcategories — Activists, Politicians, Magazines, and a Technology brand — with scores compressed into a narrow 0.95–0.94 band, the defining signature of a flat shape.

Malala Yousafzai (0.95) and Greta Thunberg (0.95) sit at the top, both Activists, followed immediately by Justin Trudeau (0.95) and Andrew Yang (0.95), both Politicians. The only fellow Magazines in the top 10 are Scientific American (0.95) and New Scientist (0.95), alongside Popular Science (0.95) and WIRED (0.95) — four same-kind neighbors out of ten. Rounding out the set are Ed Yong (0.94), an Author, and Slack (0.94), a Technology brand. No single neighbor pulls away from the pack; the spread across positions one through ten is just 0.013.

The cross-kind composition is the real finding here. Half the top 10 are not media channels at all — they are Activists, Politicians, an Author, and a tech brand — yet all sit within a fraction of a point of the science-magazine cluster. That mix suggests the WIRED Science audience is shaped less by a single content category and more by a consistent orientation that cuts across science publishing, climate and civic activism, and progressive political figures simultaneously.
